Pendulum Design Principles Review and Proposal

Image
1. The principles of design are key for any animation in order to make it more visually appealing and natural-looking. These principles include: Balance Formal balance is when the scene is almost identical on both sides. It creates a feel of stability and order for the audience. Informal balance is when the scene is different on each side, which creates a feel of dramatic tension and power imbalance for the audience. Emphasis This principle helps to emphasize a specific character, place, or object to the audience.  Framing is when some of the shot is more unfocused the further you get from the object of focus. This helps the audience discern what is important. Leading lines are when the lines in the scene lead into the object of focus.  Simplicity is when the background of the object of focus is largely uncomplicated in order to help the audience focus on what's important. Robot Arm Animation Critique Response

Comments I received on the animation:  I received several comments on the general atmosphere or 'feel' of the setting I created in my animation. I also received comments on the 'floaty' keyframing of the camera. Furthermore, I received comments on the repetition of shapes (circles, lines & squares) utilized in my animation. A fair amount of people remarked that the setting felt as a ship in outer space would, rather than the empty office building I was attempting to portray. I also think I did a better job with the storyline as opposed to last animation. The camerawork also seemed better, though still not great. What my classmates said I did well: My classmates said...

Milk and Cookies (Food Modeling Project)

Image
Eye level shot: Long shot: Close up shot: Over the shoulder shot Bird's eye view shot For my project, I created a scene of cookies on a plate with milk and a straw in a cup. The first challenge I encountered was using a particle system to create the sprinkles on the cookies. However, I was eventually able to overcome this problem with some help from my table as well as some trial and error. The second challenge I encountered was the issue creating a good shape with the straw. I was able to overcome this issue by rewatching parts of the lathing/lofting tutorial. The third challenge I encountered was mapping the image texture onto the table. I was able to overcome this issue through trial and error. The fourth challenge I encountered was the issue of getting the milk to appear like milk instead of a lump in the cup. I overcame this issue by using the flattening brush, although I'm still not completely satisfied with how it looks.
