Timing and Spacing Reel
Summary Explanation: Timing and spacing are the two key aspects of animation. You need to use both in order to make your animation look realistic. Timing is the speed of your animation and essentially dictates where you place your keyframes. This is the bare bones of the animation and helps to keep it structured; however, you must also utilize spacing in order to make it appear realistic. Spacing is the variation of the speed of the object moving. (One example of this would be easing in and easing out.) By using spacing, you can make an object move slower or faster and therefore help to give the movement more 'personality.'
Penny Animation: Look at them soar. Look at them fly. They're the pennies, and they're back in town. This is an example of how spacing can make movement look more realistic.
Ball Bounce Animation: It is difficult indeed for us to say what happened in this house in the woods, and more unusual still when you realize the fact that the bricks are in excellent condition, despite the house being dated back to over a hundred years ago.
Who can say the cause of this mysterious apparition? All we know is that the tennis ball left inside will suspend itself in midair and bounce until it loses all velocity; then it continues again. Is it the ghost of a young child who just wants to play? Or is a more malevolent force at work? Will we ever know?
Pendulum Animation: They called The Council of Void vile and fiendish, but what they did not know was that the cultists were only trying to protect humanity itself. The terrible, gluttonous In'myrr'zgg hungers for all eternity as he lurks in the dark Abyss, and they endeavor to sate his appetite. Year after year, century after century, The Council of Void spends countless resources and lives to satisfy this horrid, eldritch beast.
But someday their efforts will not be enough to save us. There will come a time when all their endeavors will be for naught. And when that dark day arrives, the world will be lost to the gluttony of a beast too horrible for man to lay eyes upon.
In'myrr'zgg is watching.
